Fruit Still Life

Today’s shot was a challenge from the Shutter Sisters Flickr group I belong to. Our image should portray “Food Still Life”. This is my take on it.

The bowl belonged to my Grandmother, or possibly my Great Grandmother. I’ll have to ask my mom. I set this up in my dining room, bringing a small oak table from the den to set the bowl of fruit on. I tried several images using my flash and found the best ones used only natural light. Post processing included the Color Pop action from Nicole Van, and a Loaded Canon texture.

This was shot with my 85mm f1.8 lens. Exposure was .25, Aperture f4.0, Exposure Compensation of -2, ISO 100.

  3. Great color. Makes me want to reach into my monitor, grab a lime, and get a bottle of tequila.

  4. lovely shot. natural light always wins for me — i’ve not used my flash since i got my 50 mm f1.8 lens.
